About: Peer Support play an integral role in supporting the transition from active addiction to recovery. They bridge the gap between stabilization and recovery initiation occurring in treatment programs to recovery within the context of the community. Key to supporting this transition is the process of recovery planning – where hopes and dreams become a realistic map to a future filled with possibilities.
In this 1-day training, Peer Support Specialists will build skills that allow for a person-centered approach to exploring Recovery Capital and development of recovery plans. This will be a hands-on training experience that includes practice using the Recovery Capital Scale and tools designed to support recovery planning. Participants will leave training with both the skills and tools necessary to support the recovery planning process.
Learning Objectives:
- Recognize the role of Recovery Capital as the foundation for recovery planning to support long term sustained recovery.
- Understand the importance of, and develop skills to identify and mobilize strengths.
- Develop skills needed to assess Recovery Capital and build attainable person-centered goals designed to grow Recovery Capital.
- Incorporate recovery-oriented and person-centered approaches into goal setting and recovery planning activities.
